West Virginia, June, 1903–the fiery 73-year-old Mother Jones has come to help coal-miners’strike for higher wages and better working conditions by convincing them they’ll never get to heaven unless they Raise A Little Hell! Arrested and sent to jail after being called the most dangerous woman in America she begins her notorious career as an eccentric union organizer whose motto was Pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living!

Meanwhile, in Kensington, PA, Jenny Markem, an aspiring young organizer at a cotton mill dependent on child labor, is starting her own revolution—with Mother Jones as her example. Fate throws them together and leads to the historical March of the Mill Children͟—labor’s first great publicity event—an event which catalyzed a nation against child labor.
